SubWave uses the sound and waterfront ecology of DUMBO to re-present the East River’s shoreline. Audio-reactive waves triggered by passing subway trains flow past hand-pulled relief prints of the East River’s natural inhabitants: osprey, striped bass, bluefish, and oyster. As each train passes, the wave rises and recedes, surfacing the estuary beneath the city.
Ryan Webber served as the Touchdesigner technician and created the particle system to simulate water and sync the waves to the sound of incoming trains.
